The Children of Men

We went and saw this movie last night, and I have to say it was fantastic, well acted, well scripted, well cast and well directed. I now know the book differs in several ways, but I think they did such a fine job at the movie itself that it isn't going to detract too much from the book.
There was a lot of action, some humour breaks sprinkled here and there, and a good amount of suspense. The movie is set in 2027, and the human race has become infertile, and in chaos from the depression and despondency. Clive Owen plays the protagonist and he does a great job of emoting the events going on in the movie. I'm a horrible reviewer, but I have to say, for both of us to like a movie this much, it's gotta be something.

A Little Cup o' Heaven!

Deep-fried Coca-Cola An award-winning junk-food inventor debuted deep-fried Coke syrup at September's Texas State Fair:
Gonzales deep-fries Coca-Cola-flavored batter. He then drizzles Coke fountain syrup on it. The fried Coke is topped with whipped cream, cinnamon sugar and a cherry. Gonzales said the fried Coke came about just from thinking aloud.
Gonzales' diet-buster wins the creativity honor at the second-annual Big Tex Choice Awards Contest...
Gonzales achieved notoriety in 2005 with the fried peanut butter, banana, and jelly sandwich -- selling an estimated 25,000 of the treats, according to the fair's Web site. The site said London got media attention in 2004 with her fried marshmallows on-a-stick.

Is it any wonder?

Our kids can't cope with everyday situations and are getting fatter by the day, and this is the mentality that has gotten them there. People really need to back off their kids lives and let them play. Were we are that screwed up by dodgeball and tag that we're horrible people now? With the advent of video games/computers/iPods and anti-social behavior being nutured, no wonder the kids of today are royally screwed in the " I can relate" department.
Geesh, our heads didn't fall off because we played tag, and maybe fell down and scraped our knee, parents these days coddle their offspring to an extreme point and remove any instance where kids can live a real life, and actually glean character and socal experiences from their child hood when they need it the most. All we are breeding is a generation of assholes, wimps and pussies, who then feel the need to lash out because they can't deal with agression and strife.

Not It! Mass. Elementary School Bans Tag
By Associated Press
ATTLEBORO, Mass. - Tag, you're out! Officials at an elementary school south of Boston have banned kids from playing tag, touch football and any other unsupervised chase game during recess for fear they'll get hurt and hold the school liable.
Recess is "a time when accidents can happen," said Willett Elementary School Principal Gaylene Heppe, who approved the ban.
While there is no districtwide ban on contact sports during recess, local rules have been cropping up. Several school administrators around Attleboro, a city of about 45,000 residents, took aim at dodgeball a few years ago, saying it was exclusionary and dangerous.
Elementary schools in Cheyenne, Wyo., and Spokane, Wash., also recently banned tag during recess. A suburban Charleston, S.C., school outlawed all unsupervised contact sports.
"I think that it's unfortunate that kids' lives are micromanaged and there are social skills they'll never develop on their own," said Debbie Laferriere, who has two children at Willett, about 40 miles south of Boston. "Playing tag is just part of being a kid."
Another Willett parent, Celeste D'Elia, said her son feels safer because of the rule. "I've witnessed enough near collisions," she said.

I know I haven't been around.

We've all been busy, but I haven't felt much like posting. The world seems so screwy right now, with twisted fucks shooting Amish children, high up Republican fucks covering up for pervo Republican bastards. I'm so disgusted with American society right now. we put up with so much shit, it's really pathetic. So, I haven't felt like being intellectual or funny, or anything on here.
My Hubby is away for the weekend, so i was bored, and decided i should update this thing, to let my friends see what's going on with me.

Peaceful thoughts

if I knew one place, or one thing could bring me some peace about all that has gone on the past three weeks. I knew it had to be Longwood Gardens. Who could think such a simple place, a simple thing, could always rejuvente me, bring me peace, make me smile, and make me happy. Chris and I went there today, I desperately needed it. I'm so happy we did go.

We're so sad you left us, we will miss you for the rest ofour lives. We love you more than anything. Goodbye, our baby, we will see you again at Rainbow Bridge one day.

In Memorium: Thai Li 7-15-91 to 8-23-06

I wanted to say goodbye to my cat here. It's hard enough thinking about this, and I'm not sure if I can do it later. I've had her since she was 7 weeks old. My Mother got her fo rme for my birthday. She was so tiny she fit in one hand. She was attached to me instantly, and would follow me allover the house, talking to me the way Siamese cats do. She was never a cuddly lap cat until tis year, as she got older and as we now know, sicker. She started sleeping with me last year, on my pillow, which I always thiught was strange, but made me happy. Just a few months ago she started laying on my lap, which she had never done before. I know people humanize thier pets, but I do beleive she knew she was sick, and was getting in as much love as she could. We found out she has a tumor beind her right shoulder blade, most likely cancer. She is 15, and otherwise healthy, a tragedy in its own right. But she has stopped eating and seems to be in pain walking, so it's time to send her to Rainbow Bridge where she can be happy and pain-free again. I'm glad I wasn't working today, and am able to spend her last day with her, hearing her purr for the last time, kissing and hugging her like crazy, taking some last pictures. Going through the house today and getting rid of her things is really hard, and all of this hurts like hell. it stinks, but it's the right thing to do, and i can't be selfish and keep her around because it's too painful for me to be without her. She has always comforted me through my pain and times of need and loved me without question.
I love you my kitty, my baby, I always will.

I know I've been MIA

Sorry to anyone who has been wondering where I am. I have jsut been in a serious non-computer mood since before vacation. So I have been spending lots of time with dear hubby and doing lots of nothing. Whihc is good for the summertime, The summertime invokes doing nothingness. I doubt i will be online much for a while yet until the wind changes, so jsut letting everyone know I am fine and dandy and in good spirits as well.
Went and saw Superman yesterday, it was better than i thought, although i think instead of Kryptonite, they should cut off his curl and his powers will cease. hehee, That friggin curl was perfect even when he was down and out. LOL. Also saw Pirates of the Carribean, The first one though, in preparation for seeing the second one. Ahh cheesy good/bad summer movies. have to gear up for Clerks, and SoaP too! Whooie!
